Little Ian spent Thursday night in the hospital. Thursday morning Ian started getting sick and by the afternoon, he woke up from his nap gasping for air. So, I rushed him in to Urgent Care and they admitted him to the hospital with Croup. Fortunately, he was getting good oxygen, but his heart was working pretty hard since he was trying so hard to breathe.
So, Jim and I slept with him in our own room at the hospital Thursday night while they gave him breathing treatments and steroids to open up his airway. He was much better by morning and discharged us by 9am. He is feeling much better today, but we are keeping him indoors so he isn't exposed to anything else while he is still sick and he is still contagious. We don't want any other little ones getting this one.
It's been a rough week between Jim also getting Laryngitis and myself getting Mastitis. This, combined with no sleep in the hospital and poor little Ian being so sick... we need a good nap. We can't wait until the weather warms up and we can get outside again. The winter is starting to feel so long here.
As for other news, Ian is talking up a storm. He is also saying "light" now and he is climbing up and down the stairs independently (with parent supervision of course). He is also getting much faster on his feet, cruising around the house holding onto his truck, furniture or Leica. He grabs onto Leica's fur and pulls himself up, while saying "pat pat" and patting her on her back. He is also playing ball with Leica and will take the ball out of her mouth and throw the ball for her. Leica loves him and wags her tail whenever he approaches. I'm still cautious, since she is a dog, but it's fun to see a boy with his dog and the special bond that they have.
Ian is also dancing to music. He will shake his head back and forth while bending his knees. It's so cute! He is also understanding what "no" means. He will crawl over to Leica's dog dishes, sit there, and start shaking his head "no". It's so funny! Today, he grabbed Jim's computer, and started shaking his head "no". Smart little boy. We are having so much fun with him and are happy to see him active today and feeling better.
Here are some photos from this week.
