photo of the week. i have decided to post about some of my favorite photos. i plan on doing this once a week (hence the name). very clever i know. they say that a photo is worth a thousand words and as a photographer, i find that most of my favorite photos are the ones that have a story attached to them. and really isn't that why we have photographs taken at our wedding. i am continually amazed at how an image captured in a fraction of a second can hold so much emotion, wisdom, nuance...story.
the first wedding i shot in colorado was amazing. merci and sergio are such spiritual people and it showed through in every aspect of their wedding. they were married in an amazing cathedral in denver. they were singing a beautiful worship song shortly before this photo was taken. merci had her eyes lifted up as she sang and she had tears coming down her cheeks. i remember just sitting and watching her, not even bringing the camera up to shoot, just watching her. it was one of the most beautifully peaceful moments i have seen. it was the culmination of all that she loved coming together at one moment and it was so moving. just after the song ended she elegantly wiped the tears from her face as sergio, deeply concerned, stole a glance to see if she was okay. this is what i love about what i do. i was able to experience this beautiful moment and capture a portion of what i was feeling. i have been attached to this image for a while now and i'm glad to be able to share. this photo a week is going to be fun.
Great image Jim! I've seen that image of yours before and it really stands out to me.
I really like the slight movement in the image as well. Great moment!
