the first ever f-stop workshop was a wonderful success, thanks to all of the great photographers we had at the workshop this weekend. i have been wanting to find a way to give back to a community of photographers who have helped me so much over the years, but i just wasn't brave enough to do it on my own. i thank God that Jenna Walker was willing to help me pull this off. i couldn't have asked for a better partner than Jenna, her gracious and giving attitude shines through to everyone she comes in contact with. her passion for photography combined with her love for life and people make Jenna one of the most outstanding photographers i have ever met. thank you Jenna for just being you...amazing!
we started the day off with some technical information while the models got ready. Jessica Shinyeda, owner and founder of The Face Lab did all of the make-up for us. what an amazing ARTIST she is. if you are a bride and are looking for someone to make you look absolutely stunning on your wedding day, contact Jessica and her team at The Face Lab they are incredible.
i would also like to thank Kristie of Delilahs of Denver for providing a gorgeous and unique bouguet for the models. they do such great work and are so pleasant to work with. be sure and check them out. here is a photo by Katie Thermes of Jenna Walker Photography she also shot the photo above. Katie was so helpful throughout the day doing all of the behind the scenes work that is so important and even helping to teach at times, we couldn't have pulled this off without her. thank you katie.
the workshop combined a relaxed lecture style to cover the business and more technical aspects of photography with hands-on shooting to help apply the information. we did 5 shoots in all, covering subjects such as open shade, full sun, engagement shoots, great light and flash. we all had a blast.
here Missy Dettmering, Gail Buhler and Gregg Hicks get the shots during our engagement session.
Rachel Olsen gets the shot during the full sun session.

yours truly discussing the finer points of composition and white balance.
Ryan Ragan of Oragano Photo really gets into his work during the find good light session. These guys are wedding photographers in Connecticut and came all the way to beautful Colorado to see how it's done out here. Thanks guys for being willing to model for us too, you were great.
here's a few photos i shot throughout the day.
Casey and Ryan what a cute couple.
Nikki was an incredible model and was such a trooper walking around in that big dress all day long for almost 10 hours. i know everyone got some great shots of Nikki...how could you not.
